TOK & the World Today

TOK & the World Today is our newest way of structuring TOK, with the monthly-updated mini-lessons driving the units of your course, within a framework based on either the Big Questions or Classic TOK.

Because the mini-lessons are updated so frequently, this is the most dynamic way to deliver TOK, offering you lessons that are driven by the very latest events and issues, and which clearly demonstrate how TOK manifests in the world today!

About this approach

We publish 20 new mini-lessons every month, which we create from the latest events and issues going on in the world, reported on by a diverse range of media sources, such as articles, videos, and podcasts. We categorize them into the 5 Big Questions, and link them to the different areas of knowledge and themes.

This means that you can use them to deliver a TOK course based on either the BQ or Classic approach. At the beginning of each unit, offer students an introduction to what you’ll be covering, and then simply select the mini-lessons that you find most engaging, remembering that we’ll be adding to them each month. Note that access is for members only.

Help your learners to exit their echo chambers!

Our online and in-person workshops offer the usual support for students writing the essay and exhibition, and TOK departments designing great courses.

But our training sessions go much further than this: by focusing on authentic critical thinking, they demonstrate how to help learners confront, rather than confirm, their biases and assumptions, and exit their echo chambers. This makes them accessible and relevant for all teachers, whatever their subject or programme. Read more here.
