The BQ framework critical thinking course

The BQ framework is a complete authentic critical thinking course, based on 5 ‘Big Questions’ that invite learners to reflect on the way knowledge is produced and used, across different subject disciplines.

The BQ framework not only helps students to navigate the online and real worlds effectively, it also strengthens their university application profiles, and prepares them for their undergraduate courses.

Find our classroom-ready BQ lessons below. Each BQ is presented on a padlet, with support material to help you deliver each one, such as the Unit outlines, Crafting your course docs, and Assessment trackers.

We recommend that you augment the course with our mini-lessons, to keep ACT completely relevant to what’s going on in the real-world, and integrated meaningfully with the rest of the Diploma Programme.

Help your learners to exit their echo chambers!

Our online and in-person workshops offer the usual support for students writing the essay and exhibition, and TOK departments designing great courses.

But our training sessions go much further than this: by focusing on authentic critical thinking, they demonstrate how to help learners confront, rather than confirm, their biases and assumptions, and exit their echo chambers. This makes them accessible and relevant for all teachers, whatever their subject or programme. Read more here.
