TOK for Group 5: Online workshop

TOK for Group 5 teachers online workshop

TOK for Groups 5 online workshop is designed for mathematics teachers, TOK teachers, and DP coordinators. We’ll look at how to link Group 5 subjects to TOK, and enrich subject lessons via big ideas, thinkers, and the very latest real-world issues.

We’ll also discuss the bigger picture of integrating TOK with the rest of the DP, looking at why it’s so important, practical ways of making it happen, and the resources teachers will need to ensure they’ll continue doing it long after the end of the workshop.

SESSION 1 DETAILS

Date & time: 2nd February 2023, 16.00 – 17.30 (London time)

In session 1, Michael will run through the basics of the TOK course, looking at the aims of the course, and the different themes and areas of knowledge that make up its structure.

We’ll think about how TOK functions as the hub of the DP, and why this provides students with an interconnected learning experience. via the exploration of ‘knowledge questions’, that set up students with discussions and investigations about what they know.

Finally, we’ll look at some of the key ideas and thinkers of the TOK course, that also work well to deepen our understanding of mathematics subjects.

SESSION 2 DETAILS

Date & time: 9th February 2023, 16.00 – 17.30 (London time)

In session 2, we’ll concentrate how TOK can be used to provide students with a framework to investigate and make sense of the latest real-world events and issues related to mathematics.

We’ll provide you with a range of examples of contemporary news stories, and think about how to use them to build a better knowledge of both your subject and TOK, as well as making students more aware of what’s going on in the world.

Session 2 will also include a short Q&A session, enabling you to ask questions about integrating TOK.
