The BQ framework is a complete classroom-ready course of TOK lessons, structured around 5 ‘Big Questions’ that invite learners to reflect on the way knowledge is produced and used, across different themes and areas of knowledge.
It not only provides an impactful way of delivering TOK, it also strengthens university applications, and thoroughly prepares students for their undergraduate courses.
The Big Question framework 2025-26
Find our classroom-ready BQ lessons below. Each BQ is presented on a padlet, with support material to help you deliver each one, such as the Unit outlines, Crafting your course docs, and Assessment trackers. We recommend you augment the course with our mini-lessons, to keep TOK completely relevant to the real-world, and integrated meaningfully with the rest of the Diploma Programme. 2026-27 coming very soon!
The Big Questions invite students to explore the following: BQ1 What is knowledge, and why does it require scrutiny? BQ2 How does our knowledge influence the way we construct our values? BQ3 How is our understanding impacted by the way knowledge is communicated? BQ4 How do our perspectives shape the way we view the world? BQ5 How does new knowledge emerge and develop over time?

Workshops to help you escape your echo chambers!
Our online and in-person workshops are practical, honest, and jargon-free. They cover TOK essays, exhibitions, and course design, but their deeper aim is to help all learners to become authentic critical thinkers.
