TOK and personal research

TOK provides a great opportunity for students to take responsibility for their own learning via personal research. Not only will this ensure deep understanding, it will also produce essays and exhibitions that are unique, original, and engaging.

Members of the site are able to draw on our ‘Exploration Points’ documents, found on every page of the site, to scaffold personal research.

Supporting students to research ideas and concepts

The 66 Exploration Points documents include links to to articles, videos, podcasts, and other media sources, as well as questions on the content of the site, guidance on how to draw on the 12 key concepts, and the ideas of influential thinkers via TED talks. This means that you can explore any aspect of the course to any level of depth.

The exploration points are updated every month, so if you are using them to encourage and support personal research by students – for example, for their exhibitions – make sure you check back at least every month. To see the exploration points documents, follow the links below.
